Javed Rashid Raja
DVSA ADI (Car)
I am an ADI ( Approved Driving Instructor ) for last 21 years , passed my exams and qualified in 1994. Since than I am running my own Driving school under the name of Rashid Driving School in Slough area. In this time I have helped hundreds of people to learn and pass their driving tests. Countless people have achieved their dream of becoming a driver with my teaching and help.
Over these years , I have also learnt that how people learn and and how they can be taught by different methods as every individual is different than others.
I try to pass on all this years experience to my pupils while they are learning with me. I have written this article to help my pupils and others who are in learning to drive process.
How to pass your driving test
People often ask me this question , my reply is always that if you practised enough with your driving instructor. Had few mock tests prior to your actual test than you should be able to pass with ease.
It is very important that you choose a instructor who is good in his work and approved by the DVSA. A good instructor will teach you the skill systematically and take you step by step towards test success.
When You are ready for the test
your instructor will advise you when and how to book your practical test when they feel that you are making progress and reaching the test standard. guidance will be given how to make an appointment for the test. When an instructor feels you are ready for the test normally a mock test is given before the actual test. A mock test will make you familiar with the real one , as instructor plays the role of an examiner. A mock test will help you a lot to understand the whole system of a practical test.
The Practical Driving test
You should be relaxed and confident on your test as you have learnt and practised everything which is required for the test. Your instructor is taking you for the test as he believes that you have reached the standard required and can pass the test. What you have to do on the test you have done it many of times with your instructor.
You will sign a sheet about your car’s insurance and examiner will see your driving licence. you will be asked to read a number plate from a recommended distance for your eye test.
you have to show examiner a safe and controlled driving for about 40-45 minutes. your test route will be on different types if roads and traffic conditions.
you will be asked to drive independently for 8-10 minutes and also have to do a manoeuvre , on independent driving you will be asked to follow the signs or a drawing shown by examiner.
if you have enough practice with your instructor then you have done this before. a good instructor will give a mock test to his pupils before the real test.
listen carefully to examiners directions and if you do not understand you can ask examiner to repeat and they will do it happily.
your test will finish back at the test centre and examiner will tell you about the result and will tell you how you have done it on the test and you pass or fail.
On the test you pay full attention on your driving.
never look at the examiner’s sheet while driving.
if you think you have done something wrong forget about it and do your best on rest of driving until your test is finished.
L test is a basic learner test which require that a candidate is safe on the road.
Can control the car safely and is safe for others on the road.
